Today, Kate Gumm, the coordinator for GUA Africa, posted a news item on their website about our work. We are so thrilled that our work is being recognized worldwide. Thank you Kate and GUA for recognizing our work here in Ontario! Visit the site where this is posted: http://www.gua-africa.org/news/this-time-for-africa/
Today, we received a thank you from one of the students who benefit from GUA's work. His name is Dak. Check out the picture below to see what he posted!
We are a few weeks into our Lenten Project and things are rocking! We wanted to write and give an update on the project. Each school in our board has received their school houses. So far we know that St. Mike's in Ridgetown and St. Ursula in Chatham are working hard to fill their houses - thank you!!!
Here at Christ the King, we have started raising funds as well. In one night alone of promoting our project, we raised $75.00 from our school community! ONE NIGHT! To think that we will be raising money for a few more weeks, we KNOW we will raise a lot of money for GUA. We have our sites set high. Our goal is to raise $2000.00. Please help us reach our goal!! If you are raising money at your school, please fill out a contact form and let us know how much you have raised and we will blog about it here!! We have had so many emails, messages, and tweets about our project. Thank you to all of our supporters!! We appreciate you taking the time to check out our website and raise awareness of the issues in South Sudan. By supporting our challenge, you are helping GUA Africa promote education in Africa. Below are some pictures of emails and tweets we have received! We are also super excited that Emmanuel Jal himself has retweeted one of our tweets. We had also been asked to give a presentation at our schools board office which we did in February. Our school board has also linked our website to the Living Faith page found at www.st-clair.net. In addition, the local radio station is also interested in doing an interview with us in March and our contact at GUA Africa, Kate Gumm, (headquarters in England) is also publicizing our efforts on the GUA Africa website and social meda (Facebook and Twitter) pages. We have also been asked to blog about our efforts and GUA Africa will be posting our blogs weekly on their sites. The children that benefit directly from GUA in Kenya and Sudan will be reading our blogs. We will also post them here for you to read as well. It is an honour to be published on GUA's website. Needless to say, we will continue to be quite busy with our project over the next few week.s We are SO excited about how many people are aware of what we are doing - we certainly have reached our first goal of bringing awareness to South Sudan and their issues. Please email us with your updates, comments, pictures, or questions! WE WANT PEACE! |
BlogsWe have been writing our thoughts down about our projects and documenting what we have been doing and how we have been feeling throughout the project. Read what the student's involved in this project have to say! We will also post tweets, messages, and emails we receive here! Archives |
